You can (and should) do research on places you want to go and restaurants you want to check out. That being said, Jesse and I discovered the places we liked the most were places we just happened to stumble upon.

Old Montréal is cool for an afternoon, but the coolest neighborhood by far is Mile End. There are so many charming shops and cafes. It’s walk-able and feels alive.

We happened to be around during the 2026 UCI Road World Championships. I’d never seen a cycling event in-person, so it was pretty fun to see the city set up for the week-long event. One afternoon, we sat for a cocktail and tapas as we watched the bikes go by. Sometimes getting through the barricades was a bit of a maze!

Pick a place to stay near the metro — they’re clean, safe, and run often! The Biodome and botanical gardens are impressive. Rent a bike and make an adventure of it! Montréal won’t disappoint.
